What about dinnerware?
We mentioned earlier that there are several factors that affect the taste of your cup of coffee. Therefore, let's go back to the beginning... Obviously, it is important that the beans you use are freshly roasted (✓) and you only work with professional equipment (✓). In addition, it goes without saying that the machines need (preventive) service to ensure the quality of the coffee (✓).
The above probably isn't new to you. At least, we hope so. What many people don't know is that the service is an important factor in the quality of the coffee as well as the experience people have with it. Huh really? Yes really! We'll explain why.
Taste, contrary to what many people think, is not determined solely by what you taste. It is the confluence of sensory perceptions that determines your taste. So logically, prior to tasting, that starts with seeing and feeling the crockery. For example, it has been proven that brown dinnerware makes you think the coffee has a stronger taste and in red dinnerware the coffee would be less strong. Blue and yellow dinnerware are mostly associated with softer and sweeter flavors. Also, the thickness of the china affects your taste. Opinions on which thickness "tastes" best vary. Of course, to find out what you like best, you can always test...
For the quality of coffee, the type of tableware is also definitely important. For example, the material and shape of the cup affect the aromas the coffee gives off. A smaller cup without corners will best preserve the aromas of the coffee. In addition, the cup can affect the taste and temperature of the coffee. In a high-quality porcelain cup, your coffee will maintain its temperature longer than in a cup made of simple pottery. Want to drink coffee at the highest possible temperature? Then use a cardboard coffee cup, contrary to what many people think, in this the temperature stays at the same level for an incredibly long time!
The appearance and material of the service may influence it, but taste always remains subjective. Ask 10 people for their opinion on a cup of coffee and all 10 opinions will differ. Our advice? Choose crockery that you like and that you think coffee tastes good in, then you're almost always right 🙂 🙂 .
